What is the Scottish Scout Network Council?

The Scottish Scout Network Council (SSNC) is a body which meets 4 times a year to discuss issues affecting Network in Scotland. It is a sub-committee of the Scottish Board and has representatives that attend board meetings on behalf of the SSNC to act as line of communication.

The SSNC discusses issues, facilitates events for Networkers in Scotland, works on projects and acts as a tool for communication between individual Networks. It owns this website to promote both its own actions and to provide Networks in Scotland a central place to promote their own and national events.

Its role is outlined in its Constitution found here.

The members of the council are representatives from every region in Scotland. Each region has 3 reps, and any region with more than 15% of the total Network population in Scotland gets an extra rep.

Why?

The SSNC is a forum for young people to have their voice heard, but also has the ability to act on any issues which arise concerning network. The Network is a section which is adult in concept, and as such, able to manage its own affairs, as well as being in a position to advise the Scottish Board on relevant matters.

At every meeting there is always time given for reps to inform the SSNC about what is happening in the Networks in their region. This includes numbers, activities which have been happening, and any concerns. Additionally we get a National update on matters affecting the section.
